Faith plays a vital role in my life, and it is what led me down the path of art. The very first drawing I ever made, back when I was just a child, was a reproduction of a magnificent statue by the Italian sculptor Gagini. The moment I finished it, the flame for art, and specifically for drawing, was ignited within me.
That flame has never gone out. It is the reason Devoted to Mary exists, and it is the reason every piece I design begins as a photograph or a drawing rather than a pattern.
I decided to pay tribute to the faith that inspired me to design garments by featuring an original photograph of the sculpture printed on an oversized T-shirt dress, wrapping the artwork front and back. The same hands that once copied a statue in pencil now carry it into fabric, so that what began in a church can be worn in the street.
